4 ERP Integration Options to Simplify Multi-Company Information Management

4 ERP Integration Options to Simplify Multi-Company Information Management

When you work with To-Increase Connectivity Studio, you can synchronize ERP data between companies in several different ways. We designed the solution with this flexibility to make IT and ERP managers’ lives easier and help companies to integrate their processes more conveniently. Today, we take a look at four ERP integration options. Make use of them to simplify integration maintenance and support a variety of ERP integration usage scenarios.

Imagine a trading company that receives periodic updates for products and prices from many different vendors. The company does business in several countries in Europe and Asia as well as the U.S., and has at least one business location in each country. Microsoft Dynamics AX is the company’s ERP system.

In each country, the company has a legal entity that comprises several departments. Thus, products and prices need to be updated in multiple legal entities. The company uses To-Increase Connectivity Studio as a flexible, scalable integration platform.

With Connectivity Studio, you can easily create integrations with Microsoft Dynamics AX. In a multi-company scenario, there are four ways to realize ERP integration:

  • Flexible company setup with the Microsoft Dynamics AX company connector
  • Flexible folder setup, which can be company-specific
  • Run a project with company-specific tasks
  • Use specific mapping per company

ERP integration 1: Flexible company setup with the Microsoft Dynamics AX company connector

The basic setup for this integration is that you define a source or target company in the connector. The most powerful aspect of this integration is that you can define how to get your data.

Very important and helpful: In this integration, you can leave the target company empty. When the target company is empty, the integration will apply to the active company.

ERP integration 2: Flexible folder setup, which can be company-specific

In this integration, you can perform a company-specific setup for the folder connector. You enable this capability by checking the option Use company folders. That means you can import using the same message into different companies:

  • For company CEU it will check the {connector work folderCEU}
  • For company CEC it will check the {connector work folderCEC}

ERP integration 3: Run a project with company-specific tasks

We recommend you use this ERP integration in the standard batch functionality, when you add tasks to a batch job where you can specify the same message for two companies.

If you want to perform the entire setup for this integration in Connectivity Studio, you can specify the message also in the tasks. You can predefine it that way and make it part of your project. Doing so makes it very easy to deploy it and also take advantage of version control.

ERP integration 3: Run a project with company-specific tasks

This integration is very useful in master data management scenarios as we described in the blog post about Master Data Management.

ERP integration 4: Use specific mapping per company

In this integration, you can import data into multiple companies with the same message. This saves a lot of time and maintenance. In addition, we added a new feature: You can now specify company specific-values per company, like we do already in Data Migration Studio.

ERP integration 4: Use specific mapping per company

You can perform a company-specific setup for:

  • Constant values
  • Default values
  • Dimensions
  • Number sequences
