Our new Dynamics NAV food release

We are pleased to announce our new release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Food in 2018 CU4 for W1 and for the NA localization. We have added a number of new functionalities to our solution and improved some features in order to provide you with a robust solution on the NAV framework:

Introduction of Production Containers
With this release, we have made it possible to link containers to production orders in the warehouse. This leads to a better insight into available stock for consumption on the floor as well as a better handling of goods in the warehouse. Production containers are integrated with the Warehouse Pick activity but can be manually linked to production orders as well. If a customer is using multi-line production orders (batch-production), the production containers can be linked to the line so as to provide more details for the production order as a whole.

Incident Management
This release contains a number of improvements and new functionalities in the Quality Control module. The first new functionality is Incident Management. Replicating our Quality Management module, it is now possible to create incidents on any source in the database. This means that an incident can be raised on a customer, a vendor, a sales order, a sales invoice, an item, a lot number, a resource etc. Once raised, the incident can be assigned to a person and a task can be created that can integrate and be managed from Outlook. Also, a resolution can be entered and finally the incident can be resolved. Everything around incidents is logged and is searchable. This means that when a new incident is raised, all relevant historic incidents are visible, and the information contained is at the user’s disposal.

Skip logic
Skip Logic is a new feature. It helps to set up a system for specific item/vendor combinations to skip a quality control activity based on standard rules. The system counts the number of passed, failed and skipped activities over a period of time and applies that against a matrix of levels and frequencies which will determine whether the current receipt should lead to a Quality Control activity or not. The same logic is applied to Production Output without the additional filter for the Vendor.

Quality Control improvements
The QC improvements are numerous, but the two most important are the introduction of a pending state and the average result calculation. The result of a Quality Control activity does not immediately lead to a pass or fail, but a QC administrator needs to provide guidance. The activity itself is locked until a QC administrator logs in and releases the activity by setting the correct value. This supports a more grey area in Quality Control that some of our customers were looking for. In the event of multiple activities on the same lot, it is now possible to create an average calculation for available values. For each data element you set up the averaging method (first, last, arithmetic, geometric or harmonic) and in this way, the system will calculate and show average measurements for multiple selected activities.

What’s next?

Going forward, we will focus on the Business Central release. With Microsoft realizing the new version of Business Central in October, it will become available in both an on-premises and an online version.

At To-Increase we will be looking at ways to make our solutions available on-premises as well as online. The on-premises version will be the continuation of our current product portfolio and we will maintain and update the on-premise versions just as we have in the past. The online versions of our solutions will take considerably longer as moving to the cloud comes with both technical and functional challenges.

We will research the different possibilities that Microsoft provides for creating online content and will keep you informed of our progress as we move our solutions to the cloud, without losing sight of our on-premises customers.

Our customers are our focus and our solutions will help them on their way to the complete digital transformation. Learn more about Our Solutions for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, for the Food Industry, and find out how they facilitate better planning and decision-making.
