“We chose the To-Increase Invoice Workflow solution due to the fact that this solution leveraged our demands in the most effective manner and was a very good fit with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. The consultants had a very good understanding of our processes and needs, and this combination of product and expertise fully supports our strategy.”

Gerald Dehn-Jensen, ERP Manager, Hempel

Hempel A/S is headquartered in Lyngby, Denmark, and does business around the globe. The company’s coatings can be found on ships, power stations, homes, containers, bridges, wind turbines, hospitals, and just about any kind of building, infrastructure, or machinery. Hempel maintains 10 research and development facilities in regions around the world. A large part of the company’s business is developing coating products for specific customers, and it greatly helps if researchers and product developers are in the same area.

ERP foundation to support shared-services infrastructure

In 2008, Hempel chose Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 as the ERP platform for the company’s global operations. At the same time, Hempel decided to create three central service centers that would be shared by 44 subsidiaries. Because shared services would include the accounts payable function, Hempel looked for an enterprise-level invoice processing system that could fully integrate with Microsoft Dynamics AX.

A diligent review of vendors and products resulted in a decision for To-Increase Invoice Workflow. Hempel deployed the solution together with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 in its three service centers. Once Invoice Workflow was live, the company entirely stopped all paper-based invoice processing.

Easy invoice approvals for a global enterprise

Today, Hempel managers can review and approve invoices from any location in the world. Employees and vendors waiting for approvals do not need to wait for approvers to be present at an office location. Across Hempel’s global operations, Invoice Workflow handles on average 26,500 invoices every month through workflows that fit company processes, with most approval notifications broadcast through email in Microsoft Outlook. Invoice Workflow has effectively helped Hempel its goal of performing world-class accounts payable processing in its service centers.

Gerald Dehn-Jensen, ERP Manager at Hempel, says, “We chose the To-Increase Invoice Workflow solution due to the fact that this solution leveraged our demands in the most effective manner and was a very good fit with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. The consultants had a very good understanding of our processes and needs, and this combination of product and expertise fully supports our strategy.”
