Roadmap
The Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (IEM) Roadmap
2006 marked the first full year in which To-Increase sold the IEM Industry Builder solution to the market. It is fair to say that we still are learning every day about functional requirements brought to the table by our partners, prospects, and customers.
The Industry Builder Program was originally created to help push Microsoft Dynamics AX into a more diverse market space and increase adoption by enterprise-level companies. Our emerging customer base is broad, and at the same time challenges us to meet complex needsfor example, customers in Aerospace and Defense have requirements that are increasingly specific.
The Business Process Map for IEM continues to work for our customers and will remain our foundation for building and improving our solutions.
For 2007, we do not expect a functional update of standard Microsoft Dynamics AX, which gives us the opportunity to build out the solution without having to spend time on certification for a major update.
The process of building the IEM roadmap has involved close cooperation across Microsoft teams, enabling us to stay current with future enhancements to Microsoft Dynamics AX.
As of January 25, 2007, the To-Increase Industry Builder Solution for IEM v 2.1.5 will be available for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and 4.0 SP1.
During 2007, To-Increase will release two more versions and two functional releases. IEM 2.2 will be available mid-February 2007. IEM 2.3 will be released mid-June 2007.
Functional releases are planned for the second half of 2007.
The functional focus for IEM 2.2 includes a new version for Technical Quotations, Document Management Studio, and Project functionality. The Productivity Platform will offer a more user-friendly approach to implementing workflow, event management, and lifecycle management.
From a functional perspective, work on IEM 2.3 will concentrate on the following areas:
- Costing for Material, Labor and Overhead will be included in Production Orders and Projects.
- Enhanced project functionality will include analysis of Cost-to-Complete calculation and the introduction of more statistical information.
From a technical/integration perspective our work will focus on the following areas:
- The use of web services for integration with Microsoft Office Project Server and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
- Ongoing integration with third-party CAD/CAM and PLM vendors, including Inventor, SolidWorks, Catia, and UGS Teamcenter Express.
- Extend procurement functionality with an E-procurement portal.
Our partners have access to the Partner Portal where they can see reported issues and their progress.
In 2007, an additional initiative will offer knowledge-sharing through Practice Communities for Consultants and Developers. This initiative will launch April 2, 2007. More information will follow in our next Newsletter.
