Document Exchange & EDI

Enterprises cooperate in a value chain to deliver great products and services to customers. Electronic document interchange (EDI) can minimize paper trails, reduce lead times, and enable businesses to monitor and track multi-company transactions.

As part of To-Increase Business Integration Solutions, Document Exchange & EDI offers template-based, extensible support for business communications and transactions that
span specific industries across multiple platforms and applications. Just as important, Microsoft Dynamics NAV users can work without leaving the familiar environment they use every day, improving productivity and employee satisfaction.

Document Exchange & EDI supports business processes by enabling you to exchange transactional data messages. Whether you want to support a multicompany/multisite implementation or implement electronic data interchange (EDI) with one or more business partners, Document Exchange helps you manage information flows efficiently and effectively. Document Exchange & EDI supports the exchange of purchase and sales documents, service orders, warehouse transactions, and much more.

Document Exchange & EDI gives business users streamlined exchange across multiple platforms and applications. The EDI Studio, predefined content such as document template and processing workflows, and optional EDI middleware allow for quick implementation and custom support for industries.

Solution overview
In its original form, EDI is viewed as a traditional communication method. Because of this, XML―also a recognized communication method―is often identified as a potential replacement for EDI. But XML-based communication between companies is still rather limited. A growing number of organizations are implementing EDI based on well-known standards, such as EDIFACT and ANSI X12. EDI delivers capabilities that range from EDI for external partners to functionality that integrates multicompany/multisite environments.

Customers

“My co-workers no longer need to type all those order lines.”

“Every day, we deal with dozens of customer orders that make up thousands of order lines. When our view of information was limited to our own organization, we couldn’t optimize order processing. That’s why we turned to Document Exchange & EDI. It gives us the ability to automatically process customer orders. We’re saving a lot of time – my co-workers no longer need to type all those order lines, so they can focus on exceptions and give their attention to customers. We don’t need to worry about input errors. The order that appears in a customer’s system is exactly the same order that appears in our system. Order management demands close cooperation and mutual trust – and the right software solution. Document Exchange & EDI helped us bring it all together.”
